FE&S Announces Facility Design Project of the Year Winners

Foodservice Equipment & Supplies named Ah Sin at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino its 2005 Facility Design Project of the Year.

Adam Blumberg of JEM West was the operation’s foodservice design consultant. The restaurant features specialties from China, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and France. Many of its offerings are prepared in its exhibition-cooking areas, including a satay bar, sushi counter, Asian grill and dim sum station.

In giving Ah Sin the award, the competition’s judges noted the operation’s creative use of space and its use of multiple display-cooking stations in a white-tablecloth setting.

Two other projects received honorable mentions from the competition’s judges:

  • Borgata Buffet at Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa; foodservice design consultant, John Egnor of JEM Associates
  • Executive Orders at the Washington, D.C., Convention Center; foodservice design consultant, John DePaola of Foodservice Resources

Serving as the competition’s judges were Harry Schildkraut, principal/owner of S3 Consultants; Howard Stanford, principal of Kamau-Sage & Associates; and George Zawacki, principal of UpYourStack.com.

The winning project, as well as the two honorable mentions, will be featured in the May issue of FE&S.

The Facility Design Project of the Year award winner will be honored at the magazine’s Dealer of the Year and Industry Awards Gala, scheduled for May 21, the Saturday evening of the NRA Show, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.
