NSF Names Honorees
NSF International announced the winners of its 2nd Annual Food Safety Leadership Awards.
The program recognizes “extraordinary efforts of individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding dedication and achievement in foodservice safety.”
NSF named Jim Mann, founder of The Handwashing Leadership Forum and creator of the Handwashing for Life program, the winner of its Lifetime Achievement Award for Service.
Frank Bryan received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Food Safety Education. A 30-year veteran of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Bryan focused on foodborne disease epidemiology and control.
San Jamar received the award for Equipment Design/Product Development for a number of food safety innovations it has introduced in the past 18 months.
NSF also named two award winners for system improvements they have implemented: John Butts, vice president of research at Land O’ Frost, for the company’s program helping manufacturers identify and eliminate listeria in food processing equipment; and the Veterans Health Administration’s Nutrition and Foodservices’ Food Safety Subcommittee, which was charged with ensuring that all VA Medical Centers had all the tools and information necessary to produce the safest food possible.
