BI-LO Selling 100-plus Stores
Greenville, S.C.-based BI-LO, LLC, the parent of the BI-LO and Bruno’s supermarket chains, agreed to sell 104 of its 426 stores to an affiliate of C&S Wholesale Grocers.
The sale is part of BI-LO’s new long-term growth plan, which calls for the company to concentrate its resources on more than 300 stores in its core markets across the Southeast United States.
In those markets, BI-Lo will remodel its existing stores, build new locations and bolster its marketing efforts.
C&S intends to operate a majority of the stores it is acquiring, and will offer positions to all associates working at those locations, according to BI-LO.
