Vulcan Reorganizes, Takes Over Wolf Brand

Vulcan-Hart is reorganizing its internal structure along product lines and assuming responsibility for the sales and marketing of the Wolf Range brand of products.

The moves fall under what Vulcan has dubbed its Power Forward Initiative.

Prior to the change, the company had a functional organization with one head of engineering, operations, etc.

The company will now be organized in seven product units overseen by individual managers. Each of the business managers will be responsible for their units’ sales and marketing, customer service, R&D and operations.

The seven business units are:

  • Restaurant Ranges, run by Chris Stern out of Baltimore
  • Heavy-Duty Ranges, run by Rick Galicki out of Baltimore
  • Steam, run by Larry Lyons out of Troy, Ohio
  • Griddles & Broilers, run by Frank Chandler out of Charlotte, N.C.
  • Fryers, run by Paul Forrest out of Baltimore
  • Oven, run by Cynthia Flanery out of Louisville, Ky.
  • Service Parts, run by Ron Arrington out of Louisville

Each business unit will have its own sales and marketing team and each manager will report directly to Vulcan President Tim Murray.

According to Murray, the company is implementing this new structure to improve Vulcan’s flexibility and responsiveness. “As we’ve grown over the years, the decision-making process has slowed down. Now, I’ll have seven decision-makers working for me that will have the full scope of the operations underneath them,” he said.

Also part of the Power Forward Initiative is the integration of the Wolf brand into Vulcan-Hart. The sales and marketing of all Wolf products will now be handled by the appropriate Vulcan-Hart business unit, rather than out of California.

This is the second part of Wolf’s transition as a Vulcan brand. Last year, the company’s manufacturing operations in California were closed and moved to the eastern United States.

The change, said Murray, will allow Vulcan to position each brand in the market more effectively and with minimal overlap.
