BK Unveils New Prototype
Burger King has rolled out a new prototype restaurant with fewer seats, a smaller kitchen and a price tag about 30% less than the company’s standard unit.
According to a report from Knight Ridder Newspapers, the new restaurant has seating for 40 vs. 85 to 100 in the previous restaurant, which more accurately reflects the maximum number of people likely to be in a unit at one time.
The new prototype, which franchisees will have the option but not be required to build, also features more modern décor, including high-top tables, plasma screen television and cobalt blue light fixtures.
The kitchen, as well, has been redesigned to fit in a smaller footprint, resulting in reduced labor costs of close to 2%, according to the report.
