Chain Earnings Report
Applebees, Jack in the Box and Papa John’s are among the operators reporting financial results.
- For the four-week period ended Nov. 20, 2005, Applebee's reported comparable sales increased 0.7 percent. Franchised units recorded a 1.4 percent increase while company units notched a 0.7 percent decrease.
- CBRL Group reported comparable store sales for the four-week period ended Nov. 25, 2005, were up 0.2 percent in its Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores. Comparable restaurant sales in the company's Logan's Roadhouse® ("Logan's") restaurants in November were up 1.8 percent.
- Jack in the Box reported net earnings totaled $21.5 million in the fourth quarter compared to $21.0 million in the same year-ago period. Same-store sales at Jack in the Box company restaurants increased 1.5 percent during the fourth quarter on top of a 4.1 percent increase in 2004. For the full year, Jack in the Box same-store sales increased 2.4 percent on top of a 4.6 percent increase in fiscal 2004. Net earnings for fiscal 2005 increased to $91.5 million from $74.7 million in 2004.
- Papa John's announced that domestic systemwide comparable sales for the four weeks ended Nov. 20, 2005, increased 8.7 percent. This includes a 12.0 percent increase at company-owned restaurants and a 7.8 percent increase at franchise restaurants. Total systemwide international sales for November increased 14.4 percent over the comparable period last year.
- The Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group announced total consolidated restaurant sales for the month ended Nov. 28, 2005, were approximately $10.2 million, a 2.3 percent decrease from November 2004.
- For its fiscal fourth quarter, Steak n Shake announced its revenues increased 7.7 percent to $145.7 million. For its fiscal year end, the chain announced revenues increased 11.5 percent to $606.9 million and company-owned same-store sales grew 2.9 percent.
