SYSCO Buys Arkansas-Based Broadliner

SYSCO Corp. acquired certain assets of family-owned Western Foods Inc., a broadline foodservice distributor located in Little Rock, Ark. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1979, Western Foods serves Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi and Kansas. For the fiscal year ended July 2005, the company generated sales of approximately $60 million, according to a SYSCO press release.
