Chain Expansion Report

Red Robin and Ruth’s Chris were among the companies releasing expansion information of late.

  • Arby's Restaurant Group Inc., an Atlanta-based franchisor, announced the acquisition of 15 Arby's restaurants in the Indianapolis and South Bend, Ind., markets from Richard Best, president of Best Beef Inc. and Lee-Leigh Inc. Best and his family continue to own 16 Arby's restaurants in Indiana and South Carolina. With the newly acquired restaurants, Arby's Restaurant Group will own and operate 53 of the 82 locations in the Indianapolis DMA, and 12 of the 18 restaurants in the South Bend DMA.
  • Red Robin Gourmet Burgers announced plans to open its second Arkansas restaurant and first in Rogers on Monday, Jan. 9. The 6,350-square-foot Rogers Red Robin restaurant seats 212 guests and will employ more than 170 people.
  • Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill opened a new restaurant in San Diego and Phoenix, which brings the chain’s total number of restaurants to 154 throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Colorado.
  • Ruth's Chris Steak House announced the signing of an agreement for two new franchise-owned restaurant locations, one in Charleston and one in Myrtle Beach, S.C. North Carolina-based franchisee Rick Howard will open these locations some time in 2006 and 2007.
