Chain Operating Report

Applebee’s, Chick-fil-A and Steak N Shake, among other chains, report financial results.

  • Applebee’s International announced systemwide, domestic same-store sales rose 6.3 percent during the four-week period ending Jan. 22.
  • Buffets Holdings Inc. announced same-store sales rose 6 percent during its 2006 fiscal second quarter that ended Dec. 14. The company suffered a net loss during that quarter of $3.9 million, compared to a $1.4 million net loss for the same period in 2004. Buffets also announced the appointment of A. Keith Wall as chief financial officer. Wall has more than 20 years of restaurant industry experience and joins Buffets from Worldwide Restaurant Concepts where he served as vice president since 2001.
  • Chick-fil-A reported revenues for its 2005 fiscal year increased 13.1 percent to $1.9 billion, and same-store sales rose 5.87 percent. The chain claims this marks 38 consecutive years of growth.
  • Papa John’s reported domestic systemwide comparable sales for the four weeks ending Jan. 22 increased 3.4 percent. Systemwide international sales for the same period rose 13.8 percent.
  • For its second fiscal quarter of 2006, Pizza Inn Inc. reported revenues decreased 7 percent and same-store sales declined 1.8 percent. The company’s second quarter came to a close Dec. 25.
  • Steak N Shake reported revenues rose 9.7 percent to $138 million during the 2006 fiscal first quarter that ended Dec. 21. The chain reports a 1.1 percent decrease in same-store sales for the period.
