Chain Operating Report
Applebee’s and McDonald’s were among companies releasing financial information.
- Applebee’s reported total, systemwide sales for the 2005 fiscal year ending Dec. 25 increased 8.2 per-cent. Systemwide, comparable sales for the year increased 1.8 percent, with franchise restaurant sales up 2.7 percent and company comparable sales down 0.9 percent.
- Ark Restaurants Corp. reported same-store sales increased 2.3 percent for the fiscal first quarter ending Dec. 31, with sales for the company’s New York City operations increasing 13.3 percent and sales for its Las Vegas locations decreasing 3 percent.
- Bob Evans Farms Inc. announced Bob Evans Restaurants’ same-store sales for the four-week period ending Jan. 27 increased 4.1 percent. Same-store sales for Mimi’s Café increased 2.2 percent during that period.
- Brinker International released comparable sales information for the five-week period ending Feb. 1. Same-store sales increased 7.2 percent for Chili’s, 4.6 percent for Macaroni Grill, 5.7 percent for On the Border and 8.2 percent for Maggiano’s.
- Bruegger’s Enterprises announced systemwide, same-store sales grew 4.9 percent for the fourth quarter and 2.8 percent for 2005 fiscal year, both ending Dec. 27.
- McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants reported revenues increased 26.3 percent, or $82 mil-lion, for the fourth quarter, and rose 16.8 percent for the 2005 fiscal year ending Dec. 31. Same-store sales grew 3.8 percent for the fourth quarter and 3 percent for 2005.
- McDonald’s reported global comparable sales rose 5.7 percent and U.S. comparable sales rose 9.7 percent for the four-week period ending Jan. 31.
- Outback Steakhouse stated total revenues for all of its restaurant chains increased 11.6 percent for the fiscal fourth quarter ending Dec. 31. Also during the fourth quarter, comparable sales declined .7 per-cent for Outback Steakhouse restaurants; increased 5.2 percent for Carrabba’s Italian Grills; increased 10.6 percent for Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bars; increased 1.8 percent for Roy’s and in-creased 5.5 percent for Bonefish Grills.
- Panera Bread announced systemwide, same-store sales increased 7.7 percent for the fiscal fourth quarter ending Dec. 27.
- Smith & Wollensky reported total restaurant sales decreased 7.2 percent for the fiscal month ending Jan. 30, while comparable sales rose 0.9 percent for that period. The results do not include the New Or-leans location, which remains closed due to Hurricane Katrina.
