Landry’s to Open New Theme Restaurants at Disney Locations
Landry’s Restaurants Inc. purchased an 80 percent stake in the soon-to-open T-Rex Café from Schussler Creative. In addition, Landry’s purchased a yet-to-be named Asian concept from Schussler.
The terms of the deal, which totaled approximately $7.6 million, gives Landry’s the option to purchase the remaining 20 percent of T-Rex, the first location of which will open this spring in Kansas City, Kan. Plans call for another T-Rex unit to open during 2008 in Downtown Disney near Orlando.
When the Asian concept debuts during the summer of 2007, the first unit will operate inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando. The concept will be reminiscent of the western Himalayan foothills in India and Nepal.
Landry’s operates three Rainforest Cafes, also conceptualized by Schussler, at Disney resorts in Florida and California.
