Fisher of Fisher Manufacturing Co. Passes Away

Ray Fisher Sr., chairman of Fisher Manufacturing Co., passed away on Feb. 9 at the age of 69 from complications of cancer. Fisher spent 43 years working for the family business, which was founded the year he was born, 1936, by his father.

Fisher got his start as a teenager, spending summers working as an assembler, foundry man and shipping clerk. He became vice president of sales in the late 1960s, and chairman of the board in 1991 upon the passing of his father.

In 1993, Fisher moved the company headquarters from Vernon, Calif., to a larger facility in Tulare, Calif. He retired from his position of president in 2001, but remained chairman of the board. His son, Ray Fisher Jr., took over as president and currently remains in that position.

Fisher was an active member of industry organizations including PMI, NAFEM and MAFSI. He is survived by his wife, Kaye, daughters Karen Lauterbach and Kathleen Sebahar, son Ray and nine grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Agnes Foundation, P.O. Box 27350, Fresno, CA 93729, or another charity.
