Nathan’s Famous Acquires Treacher’s Trademarks
Nathan’s Famous Inc. announced the acquisition of Arthur Treacher’s trademarked products from a subsidiary of TruFood Systems.
For the past seven years, Nathan’s has sold Arthur Treacher’s products in its hotdog restaurants as well as in its Miami Subs chains, and bought out the brand based on a record of sales success, Nathan’s President and Chief Operating Officer Wayne Norbitz said. The products include a fish sandwich, fish and chips, shrimp and chips, a seafood platter and hush puppies.
Nathan’s is weighing whether to open its own Arthur Treacher’s restaurants and may distribute Treacher’s products in other chain restaurants or retail settings like grocery and club stores.
Currently, TruFoods Systems owns 60 Arthur Treacher’s restaurants, located predominantly throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania. Nathan’s operates 364 franchised units and six company-owned units throughout the Northeast and Southern Florida featuring the Nathan’s, Miami Subs and Kenny Rogers Roasters brands. The company also sells a line of hotdogs, hamburgers, french fries, mustard, pickles and other products in retail locations.
