Chain Operating Report
CKE, Denny’s and Kona Grill, among other companies, report operating results.

CKE Restaurants reported period 13 same-store sales for Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s increased an average 9.1 percent in the four weeks ending Jan. 30. Sales rose 5.8 percent for Carl’s Jr. and 12.4 percent for Hardee’s.

Denny’s stated same-store sales for the four-week period ending Feb. 22 increased 4.6 percent.

J. Alexander’s Corp. reported same-store sales increased 4.4 percent for the fourth quarter and rose 3.9 percent for the 2005 fiscal year ending Jan. 1. Net sales rose 3 percent for the year.

Kona Grill reported revenues increased 37 percent to $10.4 million, and same-store sales rose 3.3 percent for the fourth quarter ending Dec. 31. For the fiscal 2005 year, revenues increased 47 percent, $36.8 million, and same-store sales increased 4.2 percent.

Main Street Restaurant Group Inc., franchisee of T.G.I. Friday’s Restaurants, reported company-wide, same-store sales rose 5 percent for the fourth quarter ending Dec. 26. Revenues rose 6.1 percent to $57.5 million for the quarter.

Outback Steakhouse Inc. reported a 2.4 percent decline in systemwide, comparable sales for Outback Steakhouse restaurants during the four-week period ending Feb. 25. Systemwide, comparable sales climbed 2.3 percent for Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 5.3 percent for Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bars, and 3.4 percent for Roy’s. Bonefish Grill sales stayed the same.

Papa John’s reported domestic, systemwide comparable sales rose 6.4 percent for the fourth quarter ending Dec. 25. Sales for the four-week period ending Feb. 28 increased 4.6 percent. For the 2005 fiscal year, revenues climbed 4.7 percent to $968.8 million.

Ryan’s Restaurant Group Inc. reported same-store sales decreased 0.3 percent for the four-week period ending March 1. Smith & Wollensky reported sales increased 1.6 percent for the four-week period ending Feb. 27. Total sales decreased 7.6 percent in February.

Yum Brands announced same-store sales for blended U.S. restaurants rose 4 percent in February. Broken down, sales rose 7 percent for Taco Bell, 1 percent for Pizza Hut and 5 percent for KFC.
