Chain Operating Report

Bob Evans, Brinker and Chipotle, among other companies, report financial results.

  • Bob Evans Farms Inc. announced same-store sales for its Bob Evans Restaurants declined 1.5 percent, and increased 0.2 percent for Mimi’s Café during the four-week period ending Feb. 24.
  • Brinker International reported comparable sales increased 1.1 percent for its restaurants during the four-week period ending March 1. Broken down, sales increased 2.1 percent for Chili’s, decreased 3 percent for Macaroni Grill, increased 0.6 percent for On the Border and increased 3.8 percent for Maggiano’s. 
  • Chipotle Mexican Grill reported revenues increased 36 percent, $173.3 million, and comparable sales increased 14.3 percent for the fourth quarter ending Dec. 31. For the fiscal 2005 year ending Dec. 31, revenues increased 33.3 percent to $627.7 million and same-store sales increased 10.2 percent. 
  • Church’s Chicken announced it reached $1 billion in global sales at the close of the 52-week period on Feb. 25.
  • Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon reported revenue decreased 1 percent for the fourth quarter ending Dec. 27 but increased 0.3 percent for the 2005 fiscal year. Systemwide, comparable sales declined 0.5 percent for both the fourth quarter and the 2005 fiscal year. 
  • McDonald’s reported global, same-store sales climbed 4.7 percent and U.S. comparable sales increased 3.6 percent in February. Europe sales increased 5.4 percent.
  • Morton’s Restaurant Group Inc. reported revenues rose 9 percent, $83.6 million, and comparable restaurant sales increased 2.9 percent for the fourth quarter ending Jan. 1. For the fiscal 2005 year, revenues increased 8.8 percent to $300.7 million and comparable restaurant sales increased 2.5 percent.
  • Panera Bread reported systemwide, comparable sales increased 7.9 percent for the five weeks ending Feb. 28. That percentage includes an 8.2 percent increase for franchised units and a 7.2 percent increase for company-owned units.
  • Red Robin Gourmet Burgers signed a letter of intent to buy the assets of 13 Red Robin franchised restaurants in the state of Washington for about $42 million in cash. The restaurants are owned by various groups affiliated with Great Western Dining, the central management company.
