Alto-Shaam Founder and CEO Passes Away

Jerry Maahs, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Alto-Shaam, passed away at the age of 74 on April 18 after a battle with cancer. His daughter Karen Hansen, president and chief operating officer, and son Steve Maahs, executive vice president, will assume Maahs' responsibilities in the interim.

Maahs invented and popularized the low-temperature cook-and-hold oven, a core product of Alto-Shaam. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marianne, sister Donna, and grandchildren Kristina, Ryan, Amanda, Taylor and Stephanie.

Funeral services took place on April 21 and 22. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc, Wis., and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
