Chain Operating Report

Cosi, McDonald’s and other chains release operating results.

• Brinker International reported same-store sales increased 2.7 percent for the third quarter ending March 29. Broken down, sales increased 3.4 percent for Chili’s, 1.8 percent for On the Border and 5 percent for Maggiano’s, but decreased 0.3 percent for Macaroni Grill.
• Cosi reported revenues rose $29.5 million from $27.2 million and comparable restaurant sales increased 5.3 percent for the first quarter ending April 3.
• McDonald’s announced revenues increased 6 percent and global comparable sales increased 5.2 percent for the first quarter ending March 31. 
• Outback Steakhouse Inc. reported domestic comparable sales declined 1.1 percent for its Outback Steakhouses but increased 2.7 percent for Carrabba’s Italian Grills, 2.1 percent for Bonefish Grills, 7 percent for Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bars and 4.6 percent for Roy’s during the first quarter ending March 31. 
• Ruth’s Chris Steak House announced total revenue rose 15.5 percent to $65.4 million for the first quarter ending March 26. Comparable sales increased 6.8 percent for company-owned restaurants and 5.5 percent for franchised units. 
• Yum! Brands reported domestic, systemwide same-store sales increased 5 percent for the first quarter ending March 25.
