A unique opportunity for industry professionals to honor their own, the Ivy Award has been the coveted award of the foodservice industry since its inception in 1971. As the original accolade in foodservice, Ivy Awards celebrate establishments that best stand up to the scrutiny of their peers-the highest and proudest tribute to attain.

"Restaurants & Institutions is happy to honor the industry's best—the restaurants and foodservice operations that shine with the highest levels of dedication and drive. We welcome six new honorees into the esteemed circle of winners," said Patricia Dailey, editor-in-chief. "The industry finds its strength, vitality and success by continually improving on what it does, creating and then meeting ever-higher standards of excellence and accomplishment."

Each year, all previous Ivy winners, including Jean Georges in New York City, Chez Panisse in Berkeley, Calif., and Charlie Trotter’s in Chicago, are asked to nominate a new slate of exemplary restaurants, hotels and institutions to join the Ivy Society. After nominations were collected for 2005 awards, the ballot appeared in Restaurants & Institutions, where the magazine’s readership of 154,000 cast votes for their choices. The 2005 Ivy winners were featured in a special April 22 issue.
